On November 20th, the New York Avenue-Florida Avenue-Gallaudet
University Metro Station opened. An opening ceremony featuring
Mayor Williams, several council members and other dignitaries
was held on site. This metro station includes 2,500 of elevated
trail as part of the Metropolitan Branch Trail (to be open to
the public in the next month or so). Exclusive elevator access
from the station to the trail will also be available. This portion
of trail will allow trail users to safely and easily cross New
York and Florida Avenues by overpass. This is an exciting milestone
in the development of the Metropolitan Branch Trail!
Maps of proposed trail alignments and presentation slides from
the public meetings held in June have been posted. Go to the documents
section of this website to view them.
To comment on the proposed alignments please do so on the Contact
Us page. Thank you for your input and participation during
this concept planning phase of the Metropolitan Branch Trail.
The Review Summary of the Alignment Study for the Takoma Area
Corridor is now available under the Resources
section.
